Every hero starts as a Wanderer — unsworn, with no calling yet. New characters wake on Mayahuel, the tutorial shore. Hunt the vermin beyond the gate until level 8, then swear your path before Daykeeper Itzel. The moment you choose, the temple tide teleports you to mainland Tikal.
The four vocation halls on Mayahuel do not sell knight swords, paladin bows, wands, or robes. Advisors there explain each calling so you can decide:
Ask them about the calling, weapons, armor, spells, or how they compare. Buy only basic Wanderer supplies from Ixtab the Supply Keeper (training weapons, leather, food, potions, a fishing rod, a Torch, Flint Pick, Flint Hatchet, Bone Sickle). Mainland vocation shops wait until you have sworn.
Wondering which is "the strongest"? None of them — each rules a different domain. The full breakdown of how (and why) the four callings are kept fair lives in Vocation Balance.
Every calling can be deepened (promoted) once you're strong enough. At level 30, bring 30,000 gold to Sage Mira, in any mainland city temple (Palm Haven and the other eight Tikal cities — she is not on Mayahuel), and ask her about "promotion" (or advance / oath / calling). She takes the gold as an offering before the Three, and your calling's title deepens for good — a one-time oath per character:
| Calling | Advanced title |
|---|---|
| Jaguar Knight | Sun Jaguar |
| Eagle Paladin | Eagle Lord |
| Sky Sorcerer | Storm Conjurer |
| Jade Druid | High Oracle |
Promotion is a milestone reward, not a power spike — no flat combat-stat boost (damage, defense, carry capacity, etc.). It grants:
| Calling | Spell | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Jaguar Knight → Sun Jaguar | Jaguar's Challenge | Taunt — force a monster to fix on you |
| Eagle Paladin → Eagle Lord | Eagle's Mark | Mark a foe so everyone hits it harder |
| Sky Sorcerer → Storm Conjurer | Soul Siphon | Death bolt that refunds part of the damage as mana |
| Jade Druid → High Oracle | Thicket Snare | Root a monster in place (it can still attack if adjacent) |
For the twice-called there is a second summit: the Trial of the Seventh Sky. At level 200 (first oath already sworn), ask Sage Mira about the elder trial. She asks three things of you:
The elder oath grants:
| Calling | Advanced title | Elder title |
|---|---|---|
| Jaguar Knight | Sun Jaguar | Eternal Sun Jaguar |
| Eagle Paladin | Eagle Lord | Thunderbird Sovereign |
| Sky Sorcerer | Storm Conjurer | Skyfire Archon |
| Jade Druid | High Oracle | Serpent Prophet |
Death-loss softening stays at the first oath's rate — the two oaths don't stack there.
